Solar for the local organizations that mean the most to you

When Vanguard Building Solutions needed financing for their local Habitat for Humanity, they reached out to Sunwealth. Habitat for Humanity of Burlington and Mercer Counties needed a roof replacement, which presented an opportune moment for the organization to consider installing solar. Habitat board member Mike Sherman (also the CEO at VBS) stepped in and made the project happen. This week, that 91.84 kW DC rooftop project will be placed in service.

Given the environmental and economic benefits of going solar, greenlighting the project was an easy decision for the Habitat board to make. As Mike stated, “Everyone is having a tough time with the current economy, and this was a great way to save money and be good stewards of the environment.”  The resulting 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Sunwealth and Habitat will provide significant savings to the organization and allow it to dedicate more funds to improving home ownership and security and the resiliency of underserved neighborhoods.

For over 30 years, Habitat has promoted home ownership by providing affordable mortgages to South Central New Jersey low-income residents that require little down payment. More than 280 families have taken advantage of Habitat’s income-based mortgage, financial education classes, and post-purchase support. The organization’s Veteran Build program also assists military and veteran families with employment opportunities and works with individuals to facilitate integration into civic life, and the Neighborhood Revitalization program helps low-income homeowners maintain the integrity of their homes by providing affordable repair assistance.

To get the project done, Sunwealth approved the use of the German manufactured AXITEC modules and worked with VBS to make sure that the modules were available for procurement at local distributers despite supply chain issues. This project truly exemplifies how Sunwealth is more than a financier – we want to work alongside you to help make your work easier, and we want to help you make possible the projects that mean the most to you.

Is there an impactful community organization you care about that would like to save money with solar? Reach out to Sunwealth and let’s discuss!
