Sunwealth partners Coalfield Development and Solar Holler held a ceremony last month to flip the switch on 122kW installation on the roof of West Edge Factory in Huntington, West Virginia. The project will provide discounted power for Coalfield Development, a nonprofit economic development corporation with mission to grow, incubate and activate communities of opportunity in central Appalachia, the heart of West Virginia coal country. The Huntington Herald-Dispatch covered the official “ribbon cutting” for the project, which represents the largest community solar project - and one of the largest solar installations in the state.

The article quotes Jacob Hannah, director of conservation at Coalfield Development, on why the project matters:

“We believed that if any place deserved a pivotal investment in the next wave of energy, it would be the region and people that have historically powered the world, and now today we are doing just that.”
