Meet the Team: Darreck Mitchell

Here at Sunwealth, we’re building a hard-working team committed to building a better clean energy future. Today, we shine a spotlight on Darreck Mitchell, Director of Capital Markets, who recently celebrated his one year anniversary at Sunwealth.

Darreck joined Sunwealth from State Street Global Advisors, where he most recently served as Vice President, Head of Internal Sales; his previous experience also includes roles in sales and business development at Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Sovereign Bank.

We sat down with Darreck to hear more about why he’s passionate about his work.

On what brought him to Sunwealth:
After spending many years working for large-scale investment management firms, I chose to come to Sunwealth because of our purpose-driven mission to fight the battle against climate change, and to do my part by helping to democratize the benefits of solar renewable energy in communities across the US.

On his favorite part of working at Sunwealth:
My favorite part of the work I do at Sunwealth is the opportunity to work with great, like-minded team members internally and investment partners. Hearing why an investor chooses to partner with Sunwealth and be a part of our mission is second to none.

On his vision of a better clean energy future:
[My vision is] full understanding and easier access to renewable energy for all. Instead of more people asking how solar works and what are the benefits, it will be something that’s instilled in every person and every community in the United States. If we’re successful, the world changes and climate change is no longer a risk to my children, their children, and their children’s children.

On what solar justice means to him:
It’s simple, to me it means ensuring equitable access to clean energy. Like my previous answer: “Full understanding and easier access to renewable energy for all.”

On what drives him:
Every day at Sunwealth is a day I get to help and make a difference.
